Master Your Wing & Mind

SIV Paragliding Clinic - Otago NZ

Build Confidence - Expand Skills - Fly Free

Take your flying to the next level in one of the most breathtaking training arenas on earth.

Nestled among the mountains and lakes of Otago, our SIV clinic is designed to build true confidence, sharpen your reactions, and deepen your connection with the wing.

Why choose SIV training ?

  • Confidence, safety, and progression.
  • Most pilots fly with a shadow of “what if” in the back of their minds. What if I get a collapse? What if I spin? What if it feels too much?
  • SIV training turns those “what ifs” into “I know exactly what to do.”
  • You’ll face challenges in a safe, controlled environment, over water, with direct radio guidance.
  • You’ll learn not just how to react — but how to stay calm and in command.
  • You’ll discover the incredible resilience of both yourself and your glider.
  • By the end of the course, that nervousness at launch transforms into quiet confidence.

What you will gain

  • Step-by-step maneuvers: from pitch and roll to collapses and recoveries, each exercise is tailored to your current level.
  • Radio-guided training: you’ll never be alone — clear, calm instructions guide you through every maneuver.
  • Video debriefs: each flight is recorded for detailed analysis, so you learn not just from the feeling, but from seeing your progress.
  • Personal progression: whether you’re building basic confidence or preparing for acro, your training path is individual.
  • Unshakable confidence in your ability to manage the unexpected.
  • Deeper trust in your wing, knowing how it reacts and recovers.
  • Sharper piloting skills, from precise inputs to energy management.
  • A calmer mindset in turbulence, turning stress into skill.
  • This training isn’t just about maneuvers — it’s about mindset. The goal is to make you feel more at ease in the air than ever before.

Who is this for ?

  • This course is for you if you want to:
  • Replace fear with confidence in your flying.
  • Handle turbulence and collapses with ease.
  • Expand your skillset as a cross-country or adventure pilot.
  • Push your personal limits safely, knowing you’re in expert hands.
  • Whether you’ve flown for 50 hours or 500, this SIV will give you tools and confidence that transform your flying journey.

Methodology of instruction

  • We teach using the FLYEO fundamentals !
  • Trust the harness
  • Disassociate the hands
  • Full use of brake range
  • Situational awareness
  • Were interested in the pilots response to a situiation – rather than “The wing will take care of me”
  • We identified the biggest killers in the sport, and created a training ethos to recognise the situation, understand the action needed, and the execution of that action.
  • If we can teach you this we have created a safer sport

Why Otago ?

  • Towering peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and clean air make Otago one of the most spectacular and safe environments for SIV.
  • With perfect altitude, water landings, and reliable conditions, it’s the ideal classroom in the sky.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. SIV is for any licensed pilot who wants to build confidence and improve skills. The maneuvers are always tailored to your level — whether you’re fresh out of school in your first season or have years of airtime.
That’s completely normal — and it’s why SIV exists. We start with simple, easy steps and build gradually. You’ll never be pushed into something you’re not ready for. With clear radio guidance and a safe over-water environment, you’ll feel supported from start to finish.

Any form of flying has risk, but SIV is designed to be as controlled and safe as possible.
We fly over water with rescue boats on standby, you’ll wear a life jacket, and every maneuver is guided by radio.                                      It’s the safest place to experience and learn from your wing.

No problem. We adapt the training to your pace.                                                                                                                                     Sometimes the best learning comes from attempting something, debriefing it, and trying again.                                                          Progress, not pressure, is the goal.

Absolutely. By experiencing and practicing wing handling techniques in a safe environment, you’ll be better prepared for the unexpected in real-world flying.                                                                                                                                                                                                Many pilots say SIV is the single most important course they’ve ever done for their safety and confidence.

Bring your usual flying kit (glider, harness, helmet, reserve, and radio).                                                                                                        We’ll provide life jacket, radio ear pieces, and rescue support.                                                                                                                            If you’re unsure about your equipment, we’ll check it with you before flying.

All credit goes to FLYEO for the methods and philosophy of instruction.

We teach the four fundamentals of flight

1 – Trust your Harness

2 – Dissociation of your arms

3 – Full use of the brake range

4 – Situational awareness

After studying with Flyeo for 3 seasons, I now teach with them in Italy and Turkey in the European summer.                                              My gratitude to Fabien Blanco for his insight and vision of pilotage, and to Malin Lobb for his technical depth and patience in instructing me.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    And both of their passionate search to make our sport safer and help us preform at a higher levels.

That depends on conditions and your progression, but most students complete 2 – 3 flights each day, with multiple maneuvers per flight. Every flight is recorded for video debriefs, so you learn even more from reviewing afterwards.                                                                        2 per day minimum.

I recently completed a 3 day SIV course with Infinity Paragliding, and am so thankful to Chris for turning me into a more confident pilot. Infinity provides the highest calibre of teaching in a fun, safe and calm environment, and Chris was extremely attentive to tailoring the course and his instruction to each pilot’s needs and comfort. His wealth of expertise was evident throughout the course, teaching us tons of valuable theory each day through individual and group discussions and detailed video debriefs of our flights. Highly recommend Infinity to anyone wanting to pursue this sport!

I recently did a 3 day SIV course with Infinity Paragliding and was blown away by the knowledge and attention to detail Chris showed throughout the course. He tailored the course to each individual pilots ability and taught us skills that we could go away and practise on our own while also teaching us the fundamentals of good safe flying. Would recommend to any pilot of any ability that is looking to increase their knowledge and skills to pursue our sport in a fun safe manner.

I recently did an SIV with Chris. He reignited a joy and curiosity I had lost sight of in my current stage of flying. He was calm, supportive and made it clear what I needed to do and why I needed to do it. He genuinely celebrated our success and progression during the course. Thanks Chris!

After a 3 day SIV course with Chris and Infinity paragliding I am returning home a more confident and skilful pilot! The attention to detail and the highly personalised tutoring from Chris was so valuable! I’ve learned more in 3 days than in my previous 2 years flying! Can’t wait to come back for more!
